Trade mark registration in Bulgaria & the EU
pitai@advokatami.bgHow we can help
Trademark registration is territorial and tied to specified goods and services. A company name or domain registration does not replace trade mark protection.
A national application to the Bulgarian Patent Office for protection in Bulgaria. We help assess the sign, prepare the application and follow the procedure within the agreed scope.
An application to EUIPO for protection across the EU. Earlier rights and objections in the EU must be considered when choosing this route.
Review relevant earlier marks and possible obstacles before filing. A search informs the decision; it cannot eliminate every objection or guarantee registration.
Define what the brand will cover and prepare the list for your application. The wording and number of classes influence both protection and official fees.
Confirm the applicant, the mark and the relevant goods and services. We discuss any search findings, scope limits and the costs before submitting the agreed application.
The relevant office examines the application. Published national and EU applications are subject to a three-month opposition period. Questions from the office or an opposition may require additional work.
Registration is not immediate or guaranteed. An EU trade mark lasts ten years from filing and can be renewed for further ten-year periods. Renewal, monitoring, disputes and expansion to other territories are separate scopes unless included in the offer.
Working together
Preparation follows your circumstances. You know what is included and what it will cost before you commit.
Tell us what you need, where you are based and any relevant deadline. We clarify the information needed to define the work.
Receive the proposed scope, professional fee, VAT treatment and estimated timing. Additional costs and exclusions are identified in advance.
Confirm the engagement and pay through the agreed online payment link or by bank transfer. We then collect the documents needed for the work.
We carry out the agreed legal work, communicate in English and keep you informed of the next steps.
Fees & additional costs
We quote according to the territory, number of marks and classes, searches and representation needed. The offer states our professional fee and VAT treatment. Patent Office or EUIPO fees, translations and any dispute work are identified separately; payment of a filing fee does not guarantee registration.
Before you begin
Have a different question? Describe your situation and we will explain whether and how we can help.
Describe your caseIt depends on where you trade, where you plan to expand and the earlier rights identified. A Bulgarian registration is national; an EU trade mark is a unitary right across the EU. We assess the suitable route for your business.
Potentially. A word mark and a figurative mark protect different aspects of a brand. We review the sign and your priorities and explain whether separate applications would be appropriate.
Timing depends on examination, publication, the opposition period and any objections. We provide an estimate for the chosen route after the initial review. Filing an application is not the same as obtaining a registration.
We explain the notice, deadlines and available options. Representation in an opposition, negotiations or an appeal is separately scoped and quoted unless already expressly included in your engagement.
